Almost everyone today uses the term glasses to refer to what was once widely referred to as spectacles. Even those working in the optical trade now use the word glasses instead of the traditional spectacles
Its an old fashion term

Hello,
Lyudmila
I am obsessed with eyewear, I collect many different glasses. Most people like to suggest they are the same thing. However, spectacles were made different from glasses. The style was made with more of a bent end to the arms of the frame. I believe it was like that because of weight issues(this style helped them stay on the face). Glasses are modern made from a variety of materials, to give a more fashion forward style.
