what's the difference between  отличный and отлично? please answer in english

Hi, the first one is the adjective for masculine form of excellent (in a nominative case).
The second one is the adverb.

Например:
Отличный день! (Adjective: What an amazing day!) день (какой?) отличный. 
Я отлично провела этот день! (I had a wonderful day.) in this case: отлично is an adverb. Я провела свой день (как?) отлично.
