**Learning a language is a lot like being in a relationship.** Many students get extremely excited at the beginning of their language-learning journey. It’s similar to the honeymoon stage of a relationship—the excitement is high, motivation is strong, and you want to give it everything you’ve got. But just like relationships, that initial excitement eventually settles down. And that’s where consistency matters. You don’t become fluent by going all in for a few weeks and then losing momentum. Language learning is a long-term commitment. It requires consistent effort, patience, and the right strategy. That’s why I always remind my students: **don’t get too caught up in the excitement of the beginning.** The process takes time. Dating can be similar. You don’t have to rush into giving someone everything right away. You take the time to get to know them, see if there’s compatibility, and gradually build something meaningful. Language learning works the same way. **Find a pace you can sustain. Make time for it. Stay consistent. Adjust your strategy when needed.** You don’t need to do everything at once.
