Do Americans use the phrase "club together"?
I've heard it a couple of times in British English in the meaning of sharing the cost of something.
For example, we clubbed together to buy her a nice birthday present.
How about American English or other varieties of English? Do you use this expression there?
If not, what would you say in this situation?

No, Americans wouldn't say "clubbed together." You might say "pitched in" or "went in." For example: We all pitched in to buy you a present. Or, We all went in on the present.
