I tried to log in into the app. Is it correct to say so?

I tried to log INTO the app. The phrasal verb is 'log in' - I forgot my password and couldn't log in. The preposition 'to' tells you where you couldn't log in. When we have 'in' followed by 'to' we make them one word - 'into'.
