Is there any diference between this two sentences? I saw this one in a book I am reading:
"Yes, he's a friend of my father's"
But shouldn't be:
"Yes, he's my father's friend"
?
What it is the diference? Any of these are wrong?

first sentence , his father has many friends ,the man is one of these friends .
second sentence ,the man is his father's friend, may be his father has only one friend, maybe the man is his father 's best friend. maybe 😄

The first sentence would sound better "He is a friend of my father" because the form you wrote it says that you have two fathers (two male fathers) and the second sentence is correct.
Hope it helps.
