I do not agree with Kamenko and Dragana, here are some reasons:
When it comes to Sarajevo people they are very open mind, and they like to talk about Sarajevo, ant its diversity. They are so proud of the fact that "Sarajevo has 4 religions, 3 official languages and that is European Jerusalem".They are all familiar with those cultural differences, and they like to share it.
Also, they like to talk about politics as well. Favors topic is complaining about government "that they are not doing anything, everything is the same and nothing is going to be changed".
When it is coming to "war topic", it is something where you could be sensitive, because some of those people lost their relatives and friends, and if they want to talk about that is fine. But in general, at institutions like museums, libraries, schools, galleries.. they are very open to talk about it and I felt very free to ask what ever was my interest.

Laws and culture are similar to any other European country. There aren't any specific cultural do's and don'ts that I can remember of... People are warm, hospitable and have a good sense of humour. The city is a beautiful mixture of architecture that belongs to different epochs, cultures and religions. The surrounding nature is stunning. Don't miss visiting some of the surrounding mountains or river springs.
My previous opinion was based on personal experiences. I was often asked questions about politics from the moment someone met me and I don't consider that as the best way how to start a small conversation. If you are visiting Sarajevo as an exchange student of politics, history or similar, feel free to ask whatever you find intriguing or you are curious about.

Yoshihiro I did not want to talk about the topics which I had mentioned. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a very complicated country and if you really want to know the truth about its history you should know that there are three of them. One will be said to you in Sarajevo, (majority of Muslims) what dear M.K tried to explain, the second in Banja Luka, (majority of Serbs) and the third one in Mostar, (majority of Croats).All of them have their own views at the catastrophe that happened to Bosnia. That is why I recommended to you not to talk about mentioned topics. Otherwise you could hear three version of the truth or better to say, three national propagandas in which always the others were responsible for the Bosnian tragedy. Enjoy your trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina and bear in mind what I said.
