Italki is like eBay: It's a marketplace for language learning. Teachers and tutors offer their services, set their prices, and italki takes a 15% cut. Italki does not pay us a cent for time spent answering questions and correcting essays, but this helps us become more visible to potential students.

What do you mean? If Italki pays us a salary? No. We pay them a fee for every lesson given. They just allow us to use their platform to get the students.

Italki tutors get paid. The student pays per session that they do and then italki takes the 15% cut. Tutors can set their price for a half hour of tutoring. Also set price for a hour of tutoring.
