There seems to be a rise lately of rudeness towards tutors/teachers that won't help for 'free'. I'm not sure why that is. I've had to block a few people today when I told them that I can't help them for free. They start to swear at me.
Please... Remember registered tutors and teachers on italki are human beings and deserve respect. If you can't afford something, simply find someone that can offer you free language exchange. Please don't treat us like trash. There are SO many people that are available to do free language exchange and want a language partner for free. There's really no need to unleash your anger at people.
I was absolutely gobsmacked when I read this post.
How anybody in this day and age can even begin to think that it is acceptable to visit a commercial site, ask for something for nothing, and then unleash a diatribe of verbal abuse at a totally innocent well-meaning teacher, is beyond me !
As has already been mentioned by Guyomar, going into a commercial establishment and asking for something for nothing would not be well received, and quite rightly so.
Perhaps, before attempting to learn a language these people should invest heavily in a course of manners in the 21st century.

There are a lot of arrogant and not educated people all around the world. You, as a female teacher and a person that participate a lot in discussions became popular and you are receiving all this garbage. Do not wast your time and energy for this people, just block them. I am a man, I am a student and I blocked some people here. Do not pay your attention on garbage.
From time to time, I receive "Will you help me?" messages with no mention of payment. My standard response is "If you want lessons, then schedule them in the usual way." Then they disappear.
