I think older people more enjoys cooking rather than younger people because our interest is changing depends on age. Generally,family consists will increase to have child, so that older people are willing to cook for their children and children’s health is family’s happiness. Actually my grandmother have tons of clothes and shoes which she bought when she was a young but cooking for me is one of her enjoyment now.

In my opinion, it depends on the many factors like lifestyle, culture and most important depends on the person.
When I was a kid, I really like to see my mother cooking as she used to cook many delicious foods and I am foody. I was interested to learn how to cook all those foods I love.
Now, I stay alone so it's my hobby as well as my necessities to cook food at home as its hard to find good and healthy food outside.
But for people staying with their family, it might be a hobby or a free time activity.
Cooking is a skill that one learns throughout their whole life, and especially after raising children I can imagine that most older people will know lots about cooking. Not to say that there aren't young people who don't enjoy cooking, but the majority of the best amateur cooks are older people. Young people today are also overworked so I imagine most don't even have time to cook their own food. It must be great to have a grandmother who cooks for you! I never got to know most of my grandparents and my remaining grandmother lives far away, so I don't get to enjoy her cooking often.
