Mind Your Language!
This was a British comedy show that aired in the late '70s, and the basic premise involved a group of students learning English as a foreign language, taught by the brilliant Jeremy Brown.
I watched this show a long time ago and anyway, something I came across on this site just reminded me of it. I wonder, has anybody here watched the show before?
I recommend you do if you have not already, for it is hilarious! And, it could aid your own learning, just as it taught me a few words in Spanish and Italian (haha).

It's a pretty funny show and should be required viewing for language teachers -- as an example of how not to teach :)

What are other books, plays, films based on language teaching?
- Obviously "Pygmalion".
Again, can be interesting to learners because of many pronunciation exercises. Has many screen adaptations, the most famous is My Fair Lady, a musical, but maybe learners can find the British versions just as interesting. Of these I watched the one from 30s.
- La Cantatrice Chauve (the Bald Soprano) - a famous absurdist play by Ionesco, based on French Assimil course of English and authors attempts to learn English. Assimil book series is where "my English is rich but my tailor is poor" comes from. He found the characters (dialogue characters) and their interactions in the textbook very peculiar (and absurdist:)) and wrote a play.

The title attracted my attention because I sometimes see a member in Italki using a profile photo with this sentence.
