The year in French: Anée vs ans vs an I have a confusion regarding when to use the correct term for "year " in French. When do I use anée and when do I use ans or an? I have looked for some simple explanation online but it eludes me. Please help. Thank you.

In brief, an is used for counting time.

- Il y a un an, j'ai acheté une voiture.

Année is used for the experience of time.

- Pendant l'année, j'ai beaucoup travaillé.
