LEARN INDONESIAN - Unit 2. How To Respond To "TERIMA KASIH"
Actually, it's so easy to reply a "Terima kasih". Most commonly, Indonesian will say “Sama-sama”. But, sure You can have a variety of responses depending upon the situation you are in, or adapt your reply depending on your relationship with the person you know. For instance, I may respond differently if it is a close friend or a stranger. But, the goal is to give a positive impression to the person you are talking to.
"Sama-sama"
Yes, I use this phrase in every formal situation or talking to a stranger. That's why I never use this phrase to my best/close friends, my family, or any close person I have. Because, personally, it is just awkward and feel like make a distance between us.
Then, what do I usually say to respond a "Terima kasih" from my close person?
This!
"Siap / Siaaap / Iyah / Okeee / Sip / Okesip"
And "Siap/Siaaap" is my favorite anyway. :D
