Looking for Californian accent speaker
Hi, I'd like to do language exchange with someone who speaks the "general American accent" (not sure if there's a real name for that) that's usually spoken in Hollywood movies, and to adopt that accent myself. My native language is Finnish.

SHL: Just about everyone has the impression that their own accent is "no accent" -- it's always everyone else who has an accent. It's just like how everyone thinks their own language is "normal" and other languages say things backwards and such. But like I said, most American accents are close to the standard (unlike British accents or German accents, for example).

Well, Isaac, you are the first Californian ( only pertaining to the people living here, that is different) who would speak of a “Californian” city.
And, I’ve lived in Northern California since I was 7, in 1965.

Never have I ever heard a real Californian (person) refer to a thing as Californian, outside of reading it in the Australian or British press. I know outsiders say it, especially from Britain, but never from local California people. Sorry, just never heard it. The odds of hearing a real Californian refer to a “Californian city“ with the redundant „n“ added to California are probably less than 1/1000.

Hey Phil and SHL, thanks for your comments. This idea was actually a recommendation from my English coach. He's from California but my sessions with him are coming to an end soon so I'll have to find something else in place. I've had a few iTalki friends all over the US and indeed some of them speak so thick local accent that I highly doubt the usefulness of me adopting any of them, therefore this request.

SHL: Both could be correct. By the way, do you say “American accent” or “America accent”? (I only say the former.)
