The Sun Never Says - Favourite Poems

This is one of my favourite poems by a poet called Hafez. What's one of your favourites?

Even after all this time

The sun never says to the earth,

"You owe Me."

Look what happens with

A love like that,

It lights the Whole Sky

I don't know so much about English poems. Maybe "The Wild Honeysuckle" and "To A Waterfowl" are the only two that I am able to recite at the momet thanks to the exam of British and American Literature course in university school days. Oh I forget to say - I like the poem "When you are old" :)

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

That's very helpful! I think my understanding grew to 70%!

I think I only understood 1-2% of that!
