It's said that people in mainland China can still use Msn Messenger while the others have to use Skype instead.
To my surprise, I, a Chinese living in mainland China, was not allowed to log on MSN Messenger. It said I had to download a new version of MSN Messenger. I downloaded it. The new version of Messenger turned out to be Skype. I tried to log on to Skype through my MSN Messenger account, but to no avail.
I've used both other the years and I must say that Skype is a lot better than MSN/Hotmail/Live messenger ever was. It's really convenient and I use it almost everyday. Google+ Hangouts is also a good option too I suppose. I haven't really tried it out myself but I've seen videos recorded using them though.
I don't use MSN, but I use skype and facebook (I know in your country you cannot connect in FB). Now to connect MSN you need skype.
I have not use MSN for a long time, I think Skype is better than MSN.
