M_rk_s you say you are an engineer and I am also an engineer and we both know that we can read engineering books without any need to dictionary . But this does not make us like a native person. I don't like news as well as  phylosphy, history so I don't understand it. Language must be funny to make people like it. If you don't like some thing then you will not be able to understand it. I know that because I am a teacher , I teach Mechanical engineering and I saw that my student become better if I make the materials easy to them. Can you imagin this, I doubt!!!!!! and again you don't know any thing about levels , you must speak to me to prove your idea and all my partners (native English)say my English is great . You are not a native English. As usual, sorry you are wrong.

Well, I can understand about 75 % of the English news but I can understand about 95% from the movies ...Its so strange . May be because I don't like news .

It depends on the topic for example I can understand 90 % of the news because they use formal english. But some series are difficult because my knowledge of idioms, phrasal verbs and slangs is very short, I can hear what they said but I can´t grasp what they mean. Also for me is easier to understand American English, Some British shows are very difficult for me specially some particular Bristish accents.

I have studying German for about three weeks and I can understand about 25 percent. Actually, I can sometimes understand what the writer is referring to just not the details.
