You could try an Australian movie. 

'Gallipoli' is a movie based on the Battle of Gallipoli fought by Australian and Kiwi soldiers in Turkey during the First World War. Despite what it sounds like, it's not an action movie. I think there should be plenty of material in there for you to analyse.

i think documentary may be a good choice to realize a country's culture.but i think the best way is to live in this country for some time.
