About a humorous expression

Is there anyone who is going to give me one or more humorous expressions that are

commonly used by Americans?

"You're barking up the wrong tree." The saying refers to a dog chasing after prey (possibly a cat or squirrel) and while the dog is barking up at the tree, the prey leaps from one tree to another.

Basically the saying means that the person has completely misunderstood something. Or that they are chasing after some objective in the wrong way.

The following page contains a number of humorous expressions which, although you won't hear them every day, you will hear them from time to time:

There are a lot of English proverbs that are used on a daily basis! I found these from a list online, since I couldn't think of them all on my own. (Source:http://www.phrasemix.com/collections/the-50-most-important-english-proverbs) I picked out the ones that I know are used on a basically-daily-basis.

"If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." - Don't trust other people to do important things for you. You have to do things yourself to control the quality of the results. Usually used in a passive-agressive way.

"Don't count your chickens before they hatch." - Your plans might not work out, so don't start thinking about what you'll do after you succeed. On the other hand, people who see things that were counted too quickly may say "Well, that chicken was counted a little before it hatched."

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." - If you try to help someone, but they don't take your advice or offers, give up. You can't force someone to accept your help. Once again, usually used in a passive-agressive way.

"There's no time like the present." - My personal favorite, If you need to do something, don't wait until later. Do it now.

"Too many cooks spoil the broth." - When there are too many people trying to lead and give their opinions, it's confusing and leads to bad results. Jobs and projects should have one or two strong leaders.

"Discretion is the greater part of valor." - Sometimes it's important to know when to give up and run away, instead of always acting brave and maybe getting hurt.

"Birds of a feather flock together." - People like to spend time with others who are similar to them.

"No man is an island." - You can't live completely independently. Everyone needs help from other people.
