Best beginner's Spanish textbook?

My husband works a lot in Spain, the Canary Islands and most recently Mexico so he's decided he had really better give learning Spanish a try. I want to surprise him with a textbook, and am even thinking of learning alongside him.

Can anyone recommend a good beginner's textbook? It would need to have some sort of audio component, such as CDs or online materials.

We would augment our study with language exchanges or tutors on italki, online materials etc but the way my brain works I prefer to have a book to work from as a foundation and then add all those amazing online resources on top.

Gracias! ;)

Hi Lauren. I hope these books help you:

Both of them are books that some spanish teachers (from Spain) are using in our Officials Schools of Languages to teach Spanish for foreigners.

If you want to practise your Spanish just let me know. I'm learning English, so you could be of help as well.

Thank you so much, Mib! Both these books look great. I think we would definitely be up for some practice once we're a little further down the track!
