When the 'City' Came Into My Life
One month ago my parents and I moved to the outskirts of Arkhangelsk. All my life Before this life-changing event we had always lived in different villages within our region. So, I moved four times and changed two schools twice in the last twenty years. For Russians it looks really strange, because the Russian mentality (especially in the north of European part) is we have an idea that where you were born is where you're needed.
Nevertheless this winter we bought a flat and started renovating and changing everything here, but everyone in our family likes to see these possibilities which can give this new place for our living. We have really high ceilings (three meters (meTRES for British)) and big windows (about 1.8 m in high as well) (throughout the flat). I should say that there is a really nice sound to this place, but now I have an echoes when I talk on Skype. I can go into the center (cenTRE for British) for 20-30 minutes and I do not need to think when the next bus will be. It’s really convenient! Moreover, some weeks ago we got digital TV and high-speed Internet! I found three channels in English! There is BBC World News, CNN and France 24! (Lists of single items: there is. E.g. There is a television, computer and fridge in the room).
I suppose that that's not everything I discovered during my first month living here. Hopefully, I will discover something new (or 'else') in the close future! (I've changed 'get' because that makes me think of only possessions rather than the possibility of change or learning).
Well done! :)
