if you really want to learn Tagalog, not only the greetings and useful phrases, you may following these things: Divide your learning into two: 1st part: phrases and useful expressions and the other is about grammar I don't suggest google translator. either you buy a book written by Victoria P. Carlos .. use youtube tutorials for beginners, or have a language exchange partner. Grammar part usually starts with the familiarization of Filipino alphabet followed by reading syllables [ search for ABAKADA]..then noun markers [ ang= the, si and sina for personal name markers.. ]and at least learn words. like in English you have to learn nouns and basic reading. if you are more on talking you need to learn how to say and read the words and syllables properly. one of the most difficult parts in learning Tagalog is familiarization of the words that have NGA, NGE, NGI, NGO, NGU. NG as a part of the letters in alphabet and attached with the syllables a,e,i,o, and u is very important.
