Promised
How to understand the word "promised" used in "the promised pleasure" ?
Does it have something to do with "the promised land"?

It would be helpful if you give more context, but I would hazard that it's not a promise where one person promises a specific thing to another. In the "promised pleasure", there is an expectation of pleasure, based on an implied promise, from the circumstances, or a look or a hint.

I know what the words mean literally. But the phrase must have a hidden meaning. Since I am trying to translate an article containing this, I don't want to be vague. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promised_Land

promised" is 一个承诺 and pleasure 一种乐趣.
So "the promised pleasure" refers to an enjoyment/satisfaction that is promised
Whereas "the promised land" means a special place(地方) that is promised for someone. Hope that helps ~ :)
