Television has destroyed communication among friends and family? - TOEFL Writing Exercise Since television showed up, we keep our eyes glued to the screen. Therefore, we lose a great part of time watching TV instead of going out and seeing real life. Hence, television has affected the human being in a negative way. From what I gather, TV has been destroying human relationships. Suppers in family have become rare. Mothers, fathers and their children are not having dinner or lunch at the dining room. Now suppers are being served in the TV’s room. In spite of having conversations, talking about their days, asking about what’s going on in the boy’s and girl’s lives, family members just stay in front of the TV. This is an example of how television is taking away the proximity among relatives. People aren’t used to going out often anymore. Both women and men are refusing invites to hang out from their friends or boyfriends and girlfriends. Consequently, they are becoming isolated and lonely. If someone asks a friend who is addicted to television to go out he’ll say that he ought to stay at home in order not to lose his favorite TV show. Television is affecting also the relationship among us by giving bad examples of what people’s relations have to be. Since TV shows a lot of violence, individuals are being more violent and explosives with their friends and relatives. For instance, a kid who watches a boy in the TV treating his mom badly has this tendency to be act the same with his own parents. To sum up, TV is making human relationships cumbersome. Family members don’t talk to each other anymore and friends are becoming distant. Likewise, people are being influenced by the violence showed in television. Therefore, we should be careful about the habit of watching TV in order not to let it turn into an addiction.
