Is freedom of Speech Necessary in a Free Society Freedom of speech is a not only necessary but also basic right of citizens while it needs some appropriate restriction at the same time. Undoubtedly, people have right to present opinions and accept information freely just as I mentioned above. So that the decisions and actions made by government would be monitored and promoted more effectively and efficiently, once it is legal that people speak out and spread points without too many reviewing processes. Besides this, nowadays, the press and other social medium, supported and donated by government, are crammed by the non-objective words coming from their sponsor. Additionally, the freedom of speech would reveal apart of soaring social problems timely before further harm and heavier loss happen. For instance, the local government would shield local officers’ corruption if the natives want to report them through their other departments. On the other hand, it is inevitable sometimes that individual person makes up rumors or untrue issues causing social turbulence or hurting others. Generally, people spread opinions out of responsibility, as they neither prove the content by researching or experiment nor capture precise data from relevant authority. Such as, someone said Wang Lihong was a gay on the Internet, a Chinese pop-music star, but until now that has not been verified but only hurt Wang Lihong’s fame and his fans. Furthermore, speakers might be attacked by the opponents, due to their speeches against others’ profit. Freedom of speech shouldn’t be prevented is a public awareness, at the same time, it is quite important to take some policies to keep speech appropriate and in order. The press should leave room for the public’s voice on the medium, such as newspaper, television and website, which content has been judged and permitted by the law. All in all, people should obtain the right of free speech, while setting relevant laws is comparably crucial.

Freedom of speech is a not only necessary but is also a basic right of citizens. Yet, it needs some appropriate restrictions at the same time.

Undoubtedly, people have the right to present opinions and accept information freely just as I mentioned above. It is necessary for people to speak out and spread points without too many restrictions so that the decisions and actions made by the government would be monitored and promoted more effectively and efficiently. Besides this, nowadays, the press and other social mediums, supported by the government, are crammed with non-objective words coming from their sponsor. Additionally, freedom of speech would reveal soaring social problems before further harm and heavier losses happen. For instance, the local government would shield local officers’ corruption if the natives want to report them through other departments.

On the other hand, there are times that individuals make up rumors or untrue issues causing social turbulence or hurting others. Generally, people spread opinions carelessly, as they neither prove the content by researching nor do they capture precise data from relevant authority. Such as, someone said on the Internet that Wang Lihong (a Chinese pop star) was gay but until now that has not been verified but only hurt Wang Lihong’s fame and his fans. Furthermore, speakers might be attacked by their opponents to gain more popularity.

Freedom of speech should not be prevented because it provides public awareness, at the same time, it is quite important to make some policies to keep speech appropriate and in order. The press should leave room for the public’s voice on the medium, such as newspaper, television and website, whose content has been judged and permitted by the law.

All in all, people should obtain the right to free speech, while still respecting relevant laws.
