Why do some Russian/Ukrainian girls say "Tell me something interesting" when talking with me?
Is there such a phrase in Russian? If so, what is it?
(I am not complaining about this. Rather, I find it quite interesting.)

It's another way of saying : Surprise me (My life is dull and gray, give me positive emotions)

I guess it's just a way to keep up the conversation. If you don't know a person well but want to know something about him/her.

It's just a kind of an ice-breaker. When we do not know how to start a conversation or we want to hear some news, for instance, we may say "Расскажи мне что-нибудь".
