Myths and heroes - Are hereos only famous poeple ? Part 1 I wrote a text for my oral examination. Thank you very much if you take time to correct it :) Part 1 : In the notion « Myths and heroes » I will talk about the definition of a hero. Indeed it’s hard to define precisely a hero because everyone will have his own idea of it. Through this definition we will wonder the following thing : Are heroes only famous people? First, what is a hero ? A hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. (It’s someone who has a dream and who fight for it, someone who want to free people from suffering, someone who stand up for their rights, someone who tries to transmit values, someone who can remind us to love and forgive even beyond obstacles. It can be a fictitious character (like superheroes or TV-stars), a patriotic or national person (like a sportsman, a politician, a human right defender).) For example, a famous person that we can consider as a hero is Nick Vujicic. He was born in Melbourne in Australia. Although he was an otherwise healthy baby, Nick was born without arms and legs; he had no legs, but two small feet, one of which had two toes. His lack of limbs made him a target for school bullies, and he fell into a severe depression. He tried to drown himself in his bathtub at the age of ten. His love for his parents prevented him from following through. Nick prayed very hard that God would give him arms and legs. A key turning point in his faith came when his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man dealing with a severe disability. He began to embrace his lack of limbs. He realized that his accomplishments could inspire others and he became grateful for his life. Later he founded his non-profit organization, Life Without Limbs. He is a model and like a hope for those who are like him. We can say that he is a hero in his life and in the life of many people who miss limbs. Nick Vujicic became a famous person so we could think that a hero is always famous. (See part 2)

Myths and heroes - Are hereos only famous poeple ? Part 1

I wrote a text for my oral examination. Thank you very much if you take time to correct it :)

Part 1 :

In the notion « Myths and heroes » I will talk about the definition of a hero. Indeed it’s hard to define precisely what a hero is (or what makes a hero) because everyone will have his own idea of it. Through this definition we will wonder the following thing (ok but not neccessary): Are heroes only famous people?

First, what is a hero ? A hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. (It’s someone who has a dream and who fights for it, someone who wants to free people from suffering, someone who stands up for their rights, someone who tries to transmit values, someone who can remind us to love and forgive even beyond obstacles. It can be a fictitious character (like superheroes or TV-stars), a patriotic or national person (like a sportsman, a politician, a human right defender).)
For example, a famous person that we can consider as a hero is Nick Vujicic. He is a role model and like a inspires hope for those who are like him. We can say that he is a hero in his life and in the life of many people who are missing limbs. (miss on its own means more like a feeling, they miss their limbs, like people who miss their friends)
Nick Vujicic became a famous person so we could think that a hero is always famous.
