How to translate "因为~所以" in English? 因为 is equivalent to 'because' and 所以 is equivalent to 'so'. I translated some sentences, but I could not find any pattern in English. In many cases, we cannot use the two words, 'because' and 'so', at once. I will go to a boarding school, so I can do various activities. He skipped a grade, so he graduate one year earlier. I was called out, so I went out. Because of the examination, he stayed up all night. For the severe march, there was casualties.

How to translate "因为~所以" in English?

因为 is equivalent to 'because' and 所以 is equivalent to 'so'. I translated some sentences, but I could not find any pattern in English. In many cases, we cannot use the two words, 'because' and 'so', at once. For example:

Again another cultural preference.  因为~所以 can be translated as "because... so/hence/therefore". The 所以  part acts as an emphasis on the action described.  However, For English, this is can be too formal or having a chiding tone.  Also, In English, the emphasis is also considered too redundant unless it's for an argument's sake.

This can have unsavory implications
I will go to a boarding school, so I can do various activities. The translation as "so" is appropriate here.
Since(because) he had skipped a grade, so he graduates a one year earlier.
Precise translation would be, "Since I was being called, [the consequence of it] I went out.
I was called out, so I went out.
Because of the examination, he stayed up all night.
For Because of the severe march, there was were casualties.

Your new translation is fantastic: You used 'because' instead of 'so' and vice versa . I studied the phrase 虽然~但是 you introduced, and posted it.(http://www.italki.com/entry/581299) But I think it is not as interesting as "因为~所以". Anyway, I expect your good comment.

You are correct. The same thing with 虽然 - 但是. You can only use one in an English sentence Because I will go to a boarding school, I can do various activities. Because he skipped a grade, he graduated one year earlier. Because I was called out, I went out. There was an examination, so I stayed up all night. Because the march was quite severe, there were casualties.
