IELTS ESSAY 2: Do we need libraries? Nowadays students can access information online, so library services are no longer necessary. Do you agree or disagree? Give your own opinion as examples form your experience. It is certainly true that new technology has changed the way in which students search information. Some people argue that because of the Internet library services have become redundant, whereas others insist that online sources cannot replace books. It is agreed that although the advantageous technology that we have, libraries are the key in our educational system. This essay will discuss the reasons why libraries are essential. Firstly, it is often claimed that books are more reliable sources of information than the Internet. This is because books are published by a publisher who has responsibility for factual accuracy. The internet, on the contrary, contains information that might be biased and partial. Furthermore, online sources also involves plagiarism and copyright infringements. For instance, one in fifth websites scrutinized for a study conducted at the University of Helsinki contained inaccurate information. Therefore, it can be argued that libraries are crucial in order to have easy access to books. Secondly, although tremendous benefits that the Internet has brought to our life, web search engines cannot replace library services. This is because through library services a student can seek information from academic databases. Access to that data needs to be limited to academic community and controlled by library workers. In addition, these skilled research experts can help students to find exactly what they are looking for. For example, when asked for a survey, four-fifth of students of the University of Helsinki frequently used library services for information gathering. It is clear that libraries are important for our education system. In conclusion, I would argue that although the Internet has increased significantly the number of information sources, online information might be inaccurate and unreliable. For this reason, it is predicted that online services cannot replace library services in the future.

Note: I don't know what type of writing the IELTS people like but, from my experience with writing in the American school system, we typically like conciseness and getting straight to the point. The phrases highlighted in blue are phrases I think you should delete because they sound unnecessary and make your essay look more wordy.
