TOEFL independent writing Question: Students at university often have a choice of place to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or apartment in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages living in an apartment. Where would you prefer to live? Gives reasons for your preference. My answer: Sometimes hard period of time helps us be independent. As a result, livening in university dormitories better than living in apartment. If I had to choose between living in universities campus and an apartment, I would definitely choose dormitories. I think this, because advantages of that are more than apartment. First advantage of living in universities housing it’s next to the classes. So it’s a good argument as students always are late for the first classes. They shouldn’t go to university from other side of the city. Besides that, the atmosphere is really perfect for studying. When students look at others, they would like to study either and it’s really nice when a small group studying together. Actually, it’s called “environment influence “. Moreover, in this case students are near their professors and teachers. They can keep in touch with them and get answers to the questions as soon as possible. For example, I used to live in university campus, and I could keep in touch with my professor. And also I liked to go the library, because only there I could concentrate on my study. Even though students know about these advantages of living in campus, some of them prefer comfort. So they would like to live in apartment. Actually, it’s understandable, because in these ages people would like to live alone and be independent from their parents. They want to do what they want to and when. Also, when person live alone in an accommodation, it helps him or her be more confident and will do everything by himself or herself. For instance, my friend lives in a penthouse alone and she really likes it. Moreover, she does everything by herself such as, paying bills, buying foods, cleaning etc., and these make her stronger and in-dependent. Considering everything mentioned above, I want to emphasize that since we are students, it would be better if living in the university dormitories. University is the place for studying and students in this period should concentrate on their studying and campus will help them. Personally me prefer living in university dormitories.
