Past modals exercises Hi, I was doing some exercises about past modals ( could/would) and I couldn't understand at all this sentence: He used to live near the center and would walk to work every day for the exercise. He walked to work every day for the exercise, didn't he? or He would have walked to work every day for the exercise but he didn't? I hope you can help me. :D

There are a few ways to tell about your old habits or the things which happened in the past.

Past Simple, "used to" and "would"

They are almost the same when you need to tell about the repeated things/actions in the past. About some sort of actions you did, but you don't do them any more.

e.g.: I woke up/used to wake up/would wake up at seven every day.

Past Simple and "used to"

But these two can also be used with past states, but "would" cannot.

e.g.: I lived/used to live in London when I was a kid. (I would live in London when I was a kid.)

I hope it helps!
