The Church of the Holy Trinity
The Church of the Holy Trinity is located in the village Ostafyevo in the Moscow region,Podolsk district. The Church was built in 1778 by the industrialist K. M. Matveev in the village of Ryazanova, and in 1781, his widow moved the Church from Ryazanova in the village Ostafyevo. Architectural design of the temple was the Baroque style.
Before Russian Revolution of 1917, the church was several times repaired at the expense of the rich parishioners, including Vyazemskys and Sheremetevs. The church was closely linked to the life of Prince Vyazemsky, who owned the estate, which is located across the road from 1792 to 1898. In the church kept the icon associated with the memory of deceased family members.
Vyazemskys always cared about church and donated Large amounts of money, icons, crosses, salaries for clergymen, provide them houses, land plots. The last owner of the estate, Count Sheremetev, who was married to Catherine Pavlovna, nee Princess Vyazemskoy, also took care of the temple. At the initiative of the count there was organized a Boys Choir at the Church.
Near the side entrance to the church there are graves of three young children of the poet Vyazemsky, but in 1930 they were razed to the ground. In 1929 next to them was buried 80-year-old Countess Ekaterina Pavlovna Sheremetev. This tomb was also desecrated, but the staff restored museum-estate Ostafyevo in 1991
The first damage of temple was caused by the authorities in 1922, when they took all that was made of precious metal. Nevertheless, the church service was going on and all things kept in good order.
In 1930-ies the temple was destroyed. Church service in the temple almost ceased. Then started the final barbarian looting. One part of icons was used as building material in a local school, and the other part - the residents took to their homes, some of icons were burned. In 1937 the church was completely closed. The priest and the cantor repressed. Its bells were removed, cupolas with crosses were destroyed. From the temple was made a granary.
During the war, the church was a diningroom for officers of Ostafyevo military airfield. After the war, there were stored agricultural products. During the next many years, until the return of the temple its rightful owners, there was a sewing manufactory. By the early 1990s. the building was in an emergency condition. Parishioners returned to the church in 1991, after the transfer of its believers began its revival.
