The difference in nephew and niece between Chinese and English There are two "nephews"(侄子 and 外甥) and two "nieces"(侄女 and 外甥女) in China. We call the kids children who are from the female relatives 外甥 or 外甥女; for instance, your sisters' kids children are your 外甥 or 外甥女。 If the kids children are from the male relatives, they are called 侄子 or 侄女;for instance, your brothers' kids children are your 侄子 or 侄女。 Interesting, right?
