wide or narrow range of knowledge should high school students learn Secondary schools teachers teach students vocational skills instead of teaching their basic knowledge in some countries. Oppositely, some countries high school choose to provide basic knowledge first. In my view, juvenile should learn more basic knowledge when they study in high school. It’s not easy for a children who just graduates from primary school learning vocational skills because learning a narrow range of subjects related to a particular career need many kinds of basic knowledge such as language skills, math skills, theory of physics, chemistry and biology. If schools teachers teach them vocational skills, they may not understand the courses and then they will choose to do other things. That will lead to many social problems like high unemployment rate, drugs, steal, robbery, and so on. The most vital point is that it’s pretty unmoral for society to force children who just graduate from elementary school to make their significant choice of their life. Since they don’t learn enough knowledge and experience, they don’t know how to choose major and electives. Even graduates of high school should take a long time to think about which major they should choose so it’s impossible for a twelve-year-old child to choose a major. Last but not least, graduates of primary school should focus on learning basic knowledge. If they are too early to learn vocational skills, it will ruins their life. For example, a boy wanted to be a practical physicist and he made his choice and then he found that he was not good at it after several years. Meanwhile, he found that he love history and he did well in remembering it. He wasted many years to learn the knowledge he was not going to use. It’s waste of educational resource and students’ personal time. I consider that different kinds of vocation need different ability. Hence, we can let students who want to engage in low-skilled work learning vocational skills in senior high school while students who want to do advanced-skilled work learning basic knowledge.

China is a developing country so the education system of my country is usually too utilitarian. Tough as utilitarian as china education system, china still has a law called “Nine years of compulsory education” to guarantee junior high school students learn basic knowledge rather than vocational skills. Therefore, in my opinion, It’s impossible for junior high school students to learn vocational skills and if condition permit, senior high school students should also learn basic knowledge too.
