Brazil is considered one of the richest countries in terms of biodiversity. However, there are animals present in Brazilian regions that can be extinct in a few decades. In 2016, Chico Mendes Institute and the Ministry of Environment released the Red Book with the list of animals threatened with extinction in Brazil. According to the study, there are 1173 species of animals threatened with extinction in the country, in addition to those that have already become extinct, such as the little blue macaw and the minhocoçu.
