Hi guys. Happy Monday! The START of a new week. So let’s do a START idiom today. TO GIVE SOMEBODY A START! It has several meanings. But which of these DOESN’T it mean? 🤔🤔🤔
To frighten somebody
To help them get their car working
To provide someone with an opportunity (a job etc)
To calm somebody down

My question asked which of these four meanings was WRONG! To give somebody a start can mean to scare them, to help them find a job or opportunity, and even to help start a broken down car. It DOESN’T mean to calm somebody!
