I prefer travel by bus - better is either 'to travel', or 'bus travel' with travel as a noun. We use 'go by bus' but not commonly with bicycle, simply 'ride a bike', or 'use a bicycle' ...but then I don't ride by bicycle a long time ago... ... but since then I haven't ridden a bike for a very long time.
