The first structure (BE used to), shows that one is already accustomed to some condition or habit, while the other (GET used), though semantically similar, emphasizes that there was a process of becoming accustomed. Also, don’t forget that we only follow these phrases with either a noun or a gerund, not the infinitive. Give me a shout if you have more questions about this grammar!
