To be idle is to be motionless/inactive for some time. Yes, people can be idle. "It's pointless just to be idle" is the correct sentence. Is this the answer you're looking for?

No, it is not correct. Actually I don't really know what you are trying to say here.

If you mean to describe an idle person, then it doesn't make much sense. You could simply call that person "a waste of space".
