I do not understand how to use "Mag" or "Pag" verbs? What is it's purpose in a sentence? I hear that "Pag" has many meanings.

MAG is used to change the form of verbs in tagalog phrases: MAG-lalaba = future tense of the word "laba" which means "laundry" "ako ay mag-lalaba sa linggo." [ i am going to do the laudry on sunday." PAG - is a prefix that we put at the front of words to make them meanigful. pag-asa = hope pag-kakataon = chance "ako ay may pag-asa na ako ay mabibigyan ng pag-kakataon." [i have hopes that i'll be given a chance."

"Mag" as a verb is used to express repeated or continuous act. Also, action of doing something. example: Magtrabaho (to work); Masisigaw (to shout much, to keep on shouting) "Mag" as prefix for nouns: like in dual number, two persons related or things that are related in a sense. For dual number: We add the word "ka" Example: Magkapatid. ( Two sisters, Two brothers or a brother in sister) Kapatid is the root word which means, siblings/sisters/brothers Example of two persons related: Mag-ama. Ama is the root word here, which means father. "Pag" is a conjunction which means "Once" or "If ever" or "whenever" Example: Pag (kapag) natawid mo na ang ilog, ikaw ay ligtas na. Once you cross the river, you are already safe. Another example: Pag umalis ka. (If you leave)

"Mag" is used or applied to indicate that the root word will be done in the future. It's English equivalent would be "Will". For Example: I will cook. = Ako ay magluluto. On the other hand, "Pag" can be used as a prefix or it can also be the Tagalog equivalent for "If". For Example: I will eat breakfast if I wake up early tomorrow. = Ako ay kakain ng aking pang-umagahan pag ako ay nagising ng maaga bukas. Pag-ibig Pagsasabuhay *I hope this helps (:
