"Hottie" and "cutie" can mean pretty much the same thing and are used in place of each other most of the time. However, there is a slight difference. "Cutie" more often applies to a smaller, younger girl. "Hottie" is more intense - a woman that would turn heads when she entered the room would more likely be called a "hottie".

The words "hottie" or "cutie" aren't exclusive to just women or young girls -- that's just from a man's perspective. Men can refer to girls/women as "hotties" or "cuties" because they are basically "cute, attractive, beautiful, gorgeous," etc. However, women also use these terms to refer to men as well, especially "hottie." Also, "cutie" is also a word that is used when speaking to young children. For example, an adult sees the young child of a person nearby and says "Well, aren't you a cutie?" This basically is saying that the child is adorable.

Hottie and cutie can be applied to both sexes. A hottie is one exuding with sex that he or she looks good. A cutie is one that does not have this sexual appealing. It is just a grading of how good something looks. For example, a cutie may be applied to a dog or a cat while hottie does not. Both these terms may or may not imply beauty. You can say she's hot, he's hot, she's cute, he's cute. The "ie" sound is appended to make it a more endearing term like, instead of grandpa, it is grandpapa.
