A question for any person currently living in Korea. I'm an African-American (a.k.a. a black person) and sometime in my life, I want to travel to South Korea. Since I'm a different race, would the people living there judge me just because I'm a different color?

As an African-American who has lived in Korea and is returning there soon...of course you'll be judged based on your skin color!! But it's the same in every city in every country, even in the good ol' U.S. of A. Some people will quietly judge you and some people will speak their thoughts aloud. Ignore them and focus on the people who have evolved into the 21st Century. I had the same concern before I first visited and I've found South Korea to be a wonderfully accepting place.

As a Korean, my answer is : yes. You probably will be judged by your race. But at the same time, there are also many people who regard it shameful. I feel very ashamed that so many people in my country judge others only by their look. You may get disappointed in Korea, but don't lose your hope.
