Your team is 3-0 down...
Can someone tell me how to read "3-0" in the sentence: "Your team is 3-0 down and there are only 2 minutes to go" ? Do I need a preposition between 3 and 0? How to pronounce 0 - "zero"? "oh" ?
Thanks in advance

Sports scores use "nil" for zero.
Your team is three-nil down.
For "0-0" you read it as "nil all".

In the UK we would say "three nil" without the preposition.

three - nil
You don't need a preposition.
Your team is three nil down.
nil = 0

I think you mean, "your team is down 3-0 (three to zero or zip) and there are only two minutes to go." Americans will typically use the preposition "to" in such a sentence. For example: "Wow, you're team is losing 14 to 28?! They must be no good."
