I dont know the difference between shitsurei shimasu and sumimasen can anyone tell me pls? thnx difference between shitsurei shimasu and sumimasen

To me, "shitsurei shimasu" (excuse me) is more formal and polite than "sumimasen" (sorry). I've used "sumimasen" in an excuse-me kind of way when I wanted to get a clerk's attention at a store or a youth hostel. (Plus, it was easier for me to say and remember. LOL)
