What is difference between "um" and "am" in German? Vielen Dank . . .

Hi! I am not a german native speaker but I think i know the answer. Am is the contraction of "an + dem". And um is a preposition. For instance, um is used by germans to mean pourpose "Ich suche eine Arbeit, Um Geld zu haben". I look for a job in order to have mone. The structure "Um ... zu ..." is like "in order to". I hope it helps!
