What is 'drip, drip, drip'? Hi, What is 'drip, drip, drip' in the sentence? Is it an onomatopoeia of fear coming? "We lived in a constant state of fear, a drip, drip, drip, where we felt he questioned our every move - taking the student or parent's word in any situation."

Yes, exactly as you understand it. Like water torture.

Peachy’s answer is one correct interpretation. However, I understand it a little differently. “Drip, drip, drip” can symbolize a process continuing slowly but continuously, something coming in small quantities one after another, a process than can sometimes be aggravating. Slowly but continually he questioned their every move.
