I rest my case
I rest my case - What does it mean exactly?
It seems to be used in a couple of different ways, and I think it means
"1- I am done" "2- I give up" "3- nothing more to add/say" "4- my thoughts exactly"
Do these make sense?
Tell me please=]

I'm pretty sure it comes from a courtroom, but in daily life people use it when there is no more to say on the matter especially if there point was just proven by someone else. Like if I were to call my brother clumsy and right at that moment he slips I could say I rest my case, because he has just proven my original claim.
Hope this helps =)

You have it right.
I rest my case = What I just said proves my point, and there is nothing more I need to say, so I am done!
