outcome vs. result
Are they synonymous and / or is "result" more formel and is "outcome" used in business and economy area?

They are synonyms... both are used in business language. "Results" are often used with more quantifiable data (numbers, statistics, etc.) "Outcomes" often describe qualitative data (words, text, court rulings, etc.) But its not a strict rule to use one over the other.
