Futuro & Porvenir? Significan lo mismo? Hay una diferencia entre "futuro" y "provenir"? Significan lo mismo? Is there a difference "futuro" y "provenir"? Do they mean the same?

Yes there is a difference. Futuro is the same as "Future", Porvenir is "the things to come" (abbreviation of "cosas por venir"). Since the things to come are in the future, they can be used in the same sense, but they are different. For example, you can say: El futuro depara un porvenir brillante para ella The future holds bright events for her I hope this helps.

Like they all have said before , those two words kinda mean the same. I would just like to add that "Porvenir" sounds a bit more like it comes from a poem and "futuro" sounds like a standar word. But that's just an opinion :))

Hi, Mario According to the RAE, "porvenir" means not only "things to come" but also "the time yet to come" (http://lema.rae.es/drae/?val=porvenir). So, with this meaning, "porvenir" is synonymous of "future"
