Recognise
1. Show approval or appreciation of (e.g. My work is not recognised by anybody!)
2. Grant credentials to (e.g. The courses offered by that college are now recognised by the ministry of education.)
3. Identify the differences (e.g. I recognise the painting is fake by looking at the brush strokes.)
4. Express obligation or gratitude for (e.g. We recognise the kindness she showed towards us.)
5. Accept (someone) to be what is claimed or accept his power and authority (e.g. Prince William of Wales is recognised as the heir to the throne.)
6. Recall something/someone that you have seen or heard before (e.g. I recognise that the girl is John's sister for the way she speaks.)
